About

Chanting the Bhagavad Gita. We have finished chanting Chapter One to Nine of the Bhagavad Gita from early 2020 until mid 2021.

Throughout the Gita Krishna reveals how to find the answers to many questions within ourselves and how to act in a way that follows dharma and leads us toward the steady state of yoga.

Having completed the first nine chapters of the Gītā during the first year of the pandemic, from September 30 2021 we begin the remaining nine chapters, starting with chapter Ten, the chapter on Vibhūti Yoga. The famous Gītārtha Saṅgraha of Yamūnācārya outlines this chapter as ‘a description of the infinite auspicious attributes of the Lord and His absolute control over everything, so as to develop devotion in the mind of the aspirant.’

This course uses the traditional method of call and response as a way to perfect the Sanskrit pronunciation and to facilitate memorization. Students will be encouraged to memorize the verses but this is not compulsory, nor will there be any pressure to do so – it is excellent for the mind and spirit even to attempt it. The basic meanings of the ślokas will be given but the focus will be on recitation.

Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.30PM Pacific time for about 30 minutes

This Course will take place on-line using Go To Webinar. Click here to register and you will be taken to the Go To Webinar Registration Page for this course. After registration you will receive an email with details of how and when to log in when classes restart.
